Overview

Framely is a screen recording application that runs primarily on your device. Studio mode is fully local — recordings, edits, and exports never leave your machine. Shareand Snap are optional cloud features that upload only the recording or screenshot you explicitly capture in those modes, so you can share it via a link.

Data We Do Not Collect

Outside of Share and Snap, Framely does not collect, transmit, or store:

  • Screen recordings, video, or audio content
  • Webcam footage
  • Cursor tracking or click data
  • File contents or names of your local recordings
  • Usage patterns, keystrokes, or browsing activity

Studio mode recording, editing, and exporting all happens locally on your machine. Studio content never leaves your device through Framely.

Share & Snap Cloud Features

When you choose to record in Share mode or capture in Snapmode, the resulting file is uploaded to Framely's servers and assigned a unique shareable URL hosted at share.framely.software or snap.framely.software. The following data is processed only for these modes:

  • The recording or screenshot itself, plus any camera-bubble or audio track you opt to include.
  • Account identifiers (email address and a session token) so we can associate uploads with your Framely account at app.framely.software.
  • Per-share metadata: title, public/private flag, creation time, file size, and view count.
  • Viewer telemetry on shared links: a timestamp and a coarse country (derived from IP) per view, used to power the view counter on your dashboard. We do not log full IP addresses, browser fingerprints, or personally identifying data about visitors.

You can toggle individual shares between public and private, or delete them entirely, from your dashboard at app.framely.software. Deletion removes the underlying file from our servers.

Studio recordings are never uploaded, even if you also use Share or Snap. The two flows are decoupled in the app.

Account & Payment Data

If you purchase a Pro license or start a Monthly subscription, we collect the minimum information necessary to process your payment and provision your account:

  • Email address (for license delivery, account login, and support)
  • Payment information (processed securely by our payment provider; we do not store card details)
  • License key activation data (device count, not device identity)
  • Subscription status, plan tier, and current cloud-storage usage (for enforcing per-plan storage caps)

Analytics

The desktop app includes no analytics, telemetry, or tracking SDKs. We do not track how you use the application, what features you access, or how often you open it. The Share and Snap web pages ( share.framely.software, snap.framely.software, app.framely.software) log the minimal viewer telemetry described above and basic server logs for security and abuse prevention.

Third-Party Services

The third-party services involved are: our payment processor (for Pro and Monthly purchases), our cloud storage and CDN provider (for hosting Share and Snap files), and our transactional email provider (for license delivery and account notifications). Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies. The desktop app otherwise makes no network requests outside of Share, Snap, and license checks.

Data Storage

Local recordings, project files, and exported videos are stored in your Documents folder. Framely does not upload, sync, or back up local Studio files to any server. Files uploaded through Share or Snap are stored on our infrastructure until you delete them or your account is closed.

Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete any individual Share or Snap from your dashboard at any time; the file is removed from our servers shortly after. To delete your account and all associated cloud data, contact us at the email below. We retain billing records for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law.

Children's Privacy

Framely is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
