Terms of Service
Last updated: May 16, 20261. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Framely ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
2. Plans and License
Framely is offered under three plans. Each grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Software on devices you own or control, subject to the limits below.
- Free:Unlimited local recordings and editing, plus Share and Snap cloud features (recordings and screenshots hosted on Framely's servers and shareable via a link) up to a 500 MB account-wide cloud storage cap. Studio recordings cannot be exported on the Free plan.
- Monthly subscription:All Pro features (including Studio export) billed monthly. Cloud storage is raised to 20 GB while the subscription is active. Cancel anytime; on cancellation your account reverts to Free limits and Studio export is locked again. Your recordings remain accessible up to the new cap.
- Pro (lifetime):A one-time purchase. Studio export is unlocked permanently for the major version you purchased. Includes 20 GB of cloud storage for one year from purchase date; after that period, cloud storage continues at the Free-plan cap (500 MB) unless renewed or upgraded.
Licenses are tied to a single user. Pro and Monthly licenses may be activated on up to two devices owned by the same user.
3. Updates and Future Versions
Framely Pro is sold as a one-time purchase that grants a perpetual license to the major version you purchased (for example, v1). The monthly subscription always includes the current major version. This dual model allows us to continue funding Framely's development without forcing every user into a subscription.
- Included for life (Pro): All bug fixes, security patches, and minor updates released within your major version (for example, v1.1, v1.2, v1.3) are free for as long as that version is maintained.
- Major version upgrades may be paid: Future major versions that introduce substantial new features (for example, v2, v3) may be offered as separate paid upgrades for Pro customers. You are never required to upgrade. The version you purchased will continue to work on supported systems.
- Existing-customer upgrade pricing: When a new major version is released, existing Pro customers of any prior major version will be offered a meaningful discount off the full upgrade price.
- Monthly subscribers: Active subscribers always receive the latest major version and feature updates as part of their subscription, at no additional cost.
- Public beta customers: Customers who purchased Framely during the public beta period receive preferential upgrade pricing for all future major versions.
Operating-system compatibility for older major versions is not guaranteed indefinitely. If Apple ships breaking changes in macOS, we may need to require an upgrade to continue using Framely on that new OS version. Your license for the version you purchased remains valid on compatible systems.
4. Cloud Services (Share & Snap)
Framely's Share and Snap modes are optional cloud features. When you choose to record in Share mode or capture in Snap mode, the Software uploads the resulting recording or screenshot to Framely's servers and assigns it a unique shareable URL hosted at share.framely.software or snap.framely.software. Studio mode does not upload anything; it stays entirely local.
- Account required: Share and Snap require a Framely account at
app.framely.software. Signing in is free. - Storage cap:Cloud storage is account-scoped and limited by your plan (500 MB on Free, 20 GB while a Monthly subscription is active, 20 GB for one year on Pro). New uploads stop once the cap is reached until you delete existing items or upgrade.
- Visibility: Each share has a long, unguessable URL slug. You may toggle individual shares between private and public from your dashboard; you may also delete any share at any time, which removes the underlying file from our servers.
- View counts:The dashboard reports a view count per share. We log the timestamp and a coarse country derived from the visitor's IP; we do not log full IP addresses, browser fingerprints, or personally identifying data about viewers.
- Retention on plan change: If you downgrade or your subscription lapses, existing shares remain accessible at their URLs but new uploads will be blocked until usage falls under the new cap. We will email you before pruning anything.
- Acceptable use: You agree not to upload content that is illegal, infringing, malware, or otherwise violates the rights of others. We reserve the right to remove shares that violate these terms and to suspend accounts for repeat violations.
5. Restrictions
You may not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software.
- Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the Software or your license key.
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks on the Software.
- Use the Software or its cloud services for any unlawful purpose.
6. Privacy
Studio mode processes all recordings locally on your device. Share and Snap modes upload only the content you explicitly capture in those modes. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for a full description of what is collected, processed, and retained.
7. Intellectual Property
The Software, including its code, design, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Framely and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Your license does not grant ownership of any part of the Software. You retain ownership of recordings and screenshots you create and upload; you grant Framely a limited license to host and serve them solely for the purpose of providing the Share and Snap features.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Software and cloud services are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement.
9. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Framely be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, or content, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Software or its cloud services.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
